Is the glass half full,
Or half empty? It depends
How thirsty you are
What would you like more of in your life?
What is important to you to spend money on?
What makes you feel secure and comfortable?
What is the rate of return of the S&P over the last two weeks?
I believe only three of the above questions are objectively important to everyone. The fourth question is only important to a few people who are depending on the returns of the S&P to help fund their answers to the first three questions.
Answering the first three questions helps to define your Enough.
Knowing what your Enough is tells you the amount you need to add to your wealth over time.
The amount of new additions to wealth you need over time will tell you what kind of rate of return you need from your investments.
Is the glass half full or half empty? Start with how thirsty you are.
