Graduating from Middlebury College in 1998 with a BS in Film/Video, Jonathan moved from Boston to Los Angeles in 1999 to pursue a career in filmmaking. After winning awards with short films, he settled into a career in post-production, eventually becoming a visual effects compositor. He worked on tv commercials, movies, and even amusement park rides, before deciding he wanted to pursue a career with a greater opportunity to directly help others.
After joining SeaCure Advisors, Jonathan became a Series 65 Licensed Fiduciary Adviser and quickly found his calling. After discovering his own financial plan had an enormous college expense problem, he jumped into the deep end of college financial planning. “I felt that if I could solve this problem for myself, then I could be a resource for other families going through the same thing.”
“The most interesting thing about this business is having to connect with someone on an emotional level so that we can discover the solution to what is often a mathematical problem. Money is a loaded subject for nearly everyone. Someone opens up a savings or investment account and they have goals and expectations for that money. I’ve seen families with high interest credit card debt that don’t want to pay it off using accumulations within a low-earning investment account. Why would they do that? Because emotionally they are attached to that investment account. Communicating with and reaching people on a level that not only solves their problems but provides emotional resolution for them is not only endlessly interesting, but incredibly fulfilling work.”
He is currently partnered with the College Planning Network and is serving families in the Lexington, KY area. While Jonathan is trained to provide a range of planning services, he specializes in financial planning for college.
